Caesium Applications
Caesium metal is a component of cathode material for photocells, photomultipliers, TV tubes, as a "getter" in vacuum tubes, image intensifier and converter tubes, rectifiers. Caesium is also notably used in very accurate cesium standard atomic clocks based on the transition between two states of the caesium-133 atom with parallel-antiparallel orientation of self nuclear magnetic moment and valence electron, which results in emission of wave with accurately 3.26 sm wavelength. Caesium is used in MGD-generators, gas lasers, ion launch engines. Radionuclide 137Cs is used for gamma- non-destructive testing, for medical diagnostics, in nuclear reactors, as a lubricant component in space equipment and so on.
